Holidays abroad are great, but why fork out a small fortune to get away when you haven’t seen all that our wonderful country has to offer? And a stay here will cost you a fraction of the price.
Get out there and explore your homeland with a wonderful walking holiday in Wales.
WHERE TO GO ON WALKING HOLIDAYS
Stunning South Wales and surrounding areas make the perfect setting for a scenic walk for people of all abilities. With rolling green hills and valleys, picturesque golden sandy beaches and the highest concentration of castles per capita anywhere in the world, there is plenty to see and do here.
Head inland and discover a magical world among Welsh waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons. Carefully pass behind Sgwd Henrhyd the tallest waterfall in South Wales (its 90ft/27m tall) which doubled as the entrance to the bat cave in the 2012 blockbuster film The Dark Knight Rises.

Or why not opt for one of the many leisurely pub walks that incorporate all of the best views with a pint and a hearty meal at the finish line? We particularly like the walk from Oxwich to Three Cliffs Bay, in the Gower Peninsula and then a spot of lunch at the nearby King Arthur Hotel’s pub restaurant. It’s easy to find too; you can find the pub under Cefn Bryn, the Gower’s highest point.
THE WALES COAST PATH
Did you know that the Wales Coast Path was the first in the world to stretch across an entire country? At 870 miles (1,400km) long, the path stretches from Flintshire in North Wales to Chepstow in the south.
The Wales Coast Path is also the world’s first dedicated coastal pathway. Outlining the country, the path passes through 11 National Nature Reserves and was named number one by Lonely Planet on their Best in Travel: Top 10 Regions for 2012.
