This summer Swansea’s BBC Big Screen in Castle Square, just a stone throw away from The Dragon Hotel, will be broadcasting performances from the Royal Opera House and the Royal Ballet. All of these broadcasts are free to the public, each start at 7pm and all have pre-show entertainment. All of these screenings are part of the Swansea Bay Festival summer events programme.
June 13th: Royal Ballet’s performance of Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s Mayerling: “A dark tale of political intrigue and morbid obsession, set to Liszt’s music, created for The Royal Ballet and now a signature work for the Company”.
July 11th: Royal Opera House’s performance of Giacomo Puccini’s La Rondine: “Glamorous 1920s Paris provides the backdrop for exquisite melodies in this production of Puccini’s tender opera, starring Anglea Gheorgiu as the elegant Magda and Charles Castronovo as the young, naive Ruggero”
July 18th: Royal Opera House’s performance of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca: “Drama, passion and fabulous music- Tosca is one of the great opera experiences, telling the story of a pair of idealistic but ill-fated lovers Tosca and Cavaradossi”.
