The Dragon Piano Bar & Restaurant was bursting at the seams this Beaujolais Day with dozens of guests enjoying the latest vintage from the French region. Coupled with fine food and good company, the traditional day for creeping away from work early started with a bang at 12:30pm with the party atmosphere and merriment continuing long into the night.
The Dragon Hotel had long since closed its reservations book for its fantastic 2 or 3 course Beaujolais Lunch Special from £11.95 offering freshly made dishes, many of which featuring the Nouveau, and a complimentary glass of the young wine.
Head Chef Sam Thomas says;
It is tricky to select the menu options and prepare enough food ready for lunchtime since, under French Law, we cannot open the wine until the very same day. At the stroke of midnight, corks were popping so that we could marinate the meat for the 8 hours it requires for the best possible flavour!
There’s no need to be disheartened if you missed out on the jollity this year however, as the strong Beaujolais Day tradition does not appear to be waning in Swansea like other regions of the UK and you’ll be sure to hear the reassuring cry ‘Beaujolais Nouveau est arrive!’ at The Dragon Hotel for at least another year!
