Kelly-Ann Bursts onto the Scene!

Well hello to all you Dragon Hotel fans out there! My name is Kelly-Ann and I have been working at the hotel since 24th August 2010 as the Administrative Manager,  a task that I have taken on with my usual gusto and enthusiasm!

Let me tell you a little bit about me; I hail from the ever expanding Broadlands Estate in Bridgend where I reside with my three beautifully behaved children (A term I use loosely).  I have been with my long suffering husband Justin for 8 years, during this time I have successfully managed to wear him down to an acceptable level of compliance and hardly ever need to resort to torturous methods to get my own way.

In my spare time I knit socks for gerbils and loiter around zebra crossings waiting to assist the frail and aged people across the road and campaigning for World Peace.  I am a self confessed Obsessive Compulsive, and seem to cause my colleagues in accounts much amusement with my constant cleaning and organising and inability to put a cup down without a coaster (this being just the tip of a very large ice berg).

Since starting at the hotel I have been fortunate enough to meet some lovely people and share an office with Helen the Accounts Manager and Kelly the Accounts Assistant, both of which are inspirational, strong, bright women (I’m easily bribed, invoices in the post ladies).

On a more serious note I am happy to say that I have been made to feel very welcome by all of the staff here and feel like I’ve been here for years!  I am also most grateful to Helen for introducing me to the wild, wonderful, calorie laden world of Starbucks!

I have been involved in the HR Administration for many years but had never worked in a Hotel before and I must say that I love every minute of the hustle and bustle of people coming and going.

I must say that whilst I find having a Health spa on site a fantastic bonus it is proving to be rather detrimental to the health of my bank balance and my husbands blood pressure as I have become a huge fan of Michelle our resident Beauty Therapist, her ability to make me snore during a facial is amazing and I am now hopelessly hooked on Gel Nails and eye lash extensions (I hope my Husband doesn’t read this!)

I am a huge animal lover and a sucker for a sob story hence the fact that I am the proud owner of six horses, nine cats, three dogs, two gerbils, a monosyllabic teenage boy, a cheeky monkey of an eight year old, a busy bee daughter and a partridge in a pear tree!

Well that’s all about me for now, join me for the next chapter in the trilogy; “Admin v Accounts 2 – Your number’s up”.

Fabulous Individual Eyelash Extensions

Now available from the Hotel’s Beautician

Eyelash extensions are a revolutionary advanced product that lengthen and thicken eyelashes. Individual eyelash extensions are single strands of a synthetic material that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Applied and bonded to each individual eyelash on a lash by lash basis to create an instant elegant and luxurious look.

Rob Crabtree is Team Member of the Month!

Rob Crabtree Team Member for September

Huge congratulations to Robert Crabtree for being nominated as The Dragon Hotel Team Member of the Month – September.  An award given to those who have given that extra bit of themselves in order to ensure that visitors to the hotel go away feeling that they have received only the best in customer service.

Rob has worked at the Dragon Hotel Health Club for four years and during that time has proven to be a valuable asset to the team and is well liked by both visitors and team mates.

His colleagues speak very highly of his thirst for success and his never ending enthusiasm.  As you would expect from working in a Health Club, Rob is very fitness focused and is a dedicated participant in Triathalon events for which he trains on a regular basis.  He is a compassionate soul in both his professional and personal life.

Some interesting facts that you may like to know about Rob:

He has a long term girlfriend called Tanya (Sorry ladies but he’s taken!)

His favourite food is whatever anyone else is eating!

He once had to bandage a man’s ’special place’ following an injury.

His favourite colour is blue.

Once again congratulations Rob for all your hard work and continuing commitment to your role within the team.

Andrew Conquers the Tour De France

Andrew CyclePlease join us in giving Andrew Morrisey, Senior Lifestyle Consultant at The Dragon Health and Fitness Club a big round of applause as he returns from his endeavours at this year’s Tour De France.  In his own words, this is how he fared:

My cycling adventure consisted of cycling 7 stages of the 2010 Tour de France, the biggest cycling event in the world. In total I cycled 1092km over 7 days. The stages that I completed involved the Prynennes Mountains. These are home to some of the most gruelling mountain climbs including the Col Du Tourmalet which I climbed twice. Each day I was cycling for a minimum of 7 hours and covering distances over 180km with hills that would take from 1 hour to 3 hours. I also took part in the etape the biggest amateur event, this year 10,000 people took part with only 6,000 finishing, I managed to complete this day after already doing 3 days cycling. I enjoyed doing this and now I am aiming to complete the whole tour de france next year!

Swansea’s Dragon Health Club are gearing up for their challenges!!

This week the health club staff have been practicing what they preach and putting their knowledge and fitness to the test!!

Rob (our Deputy Manager) will be taking part in the Llanelli Waterside Triathlon on Sunday. He’s been working hard on his training (and we’ve been laughing at his tight outfits!), so we wish him the best of luck with his challenge and will keep you posted on his success.

Andrew (Senior Lifestyle Consultant) has been covering the whole of Swansea and Gower on his bike, clocking up his mileage for the 6 phases of the Tour de France in July. His hamstrings have been a bit tight recently, but Tara has been working her Sports Massage Magic on him and he’s keeping in tip top shape (Yeah, he’s also wearing tight outfits!!)

Dan is off to Chester this weekend to add to his Sports Science knowledge and is completing his final part of the Personal Training Qualification. Dan has been working hard on his qualification for the last 18 months and is looking forward to completing the course and getting even more people in Swansea fit and fabulous!

Tara has been back outside pounding the pavements with her clients and is back up and running after a knee injury so will be working hard ready for the 1/2 Marathon in Cardiff in October. Tara’s also been busy in the gym with her Personal Training clients and congratulations to Hugh for losing 6lbs in a week!

Michelle and Harley are looking forward to completing training with Jessica Nails on the brand new natural everlasting polish and have been busy with lots of Manicures and Pedicures this week as Jessica have launched their Spring Daydream collection! So call in to the club for discounts and offers on our manicures and pedicures!
