BONG – Payslip requests increase.  Accounts Assistant Kelly Palmer has been forced into hiding, following  a surge of employees requesting paperwork.  Today she issued a press release asking for staff of  The Dragon Hotel to remain in their posts and stand together!!

BONG – Tragedy has struck in the Helen John household (Accounts Manager).  Beloved Norman the hamster, who has for the last 18 months entertained friends, family and blog readers passed away peacefully.  This sad news has indeed caused a cloud to hang over the accounts office.

Norman was a happy soul,  he had his faults as we all do.. and was under going therapy for his nut addiction and biting habit.   Forensic reports showed traces of nut in his bloodstream and tiny nut particles hidden under his bed.  Police are not treating his death as suspicious. The family have asked people to respect their privacy at this difficult time.

BONG – Administrator airs her assests.  The people of Briton Ferry were shocked and outraged when Kelly Allen dared to bare all in a comedy play written by Eric Chappell.  The shapely sex bomb suggestively sauntered onto the  stage and bared her bootie in  a blatantly bold display.  Members of the public are being treated for shock and their families have been informed.

It’s the pitter patter of four tiny feet for Louise our reservations manager as she has a new addition to the family!!

Flo the British Bulldog is new to the Reservations team here, and is busy at work..

It’s a hard life being a dog!

Flo is only 8 weeks old, so Louise is now her substitute Mama.

Flo likes nothing more than having her belly tickled and biting your toes!

Flo is originally from North Wales but is now a fully fledged Swansea Jack, even down to her toes being black & white!

Hopefully when Flo is big enough you will see her strutting the green at Crufts!

On Sunday 16^th September our Health Club Deputy Manager Rob Crabtree competed in the Ironman Wales race in Tenby, Pembrokeshire. The event consisted of a 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile marathon to finish. This was also his first ever Ironman race and coincidentally his first marathon.

Rob completed his first Ironman in 12hrs 03mins, beating his target by 57 minutes. He also raised money for Help for Heroes, so if you would like to donate, please come along to the club or donate online at www.bmycharity.com/RobCrabtree

Run Time: 4:03

He is now an Ironman, and will never let us forget it (bragging rights)!

Once again, it’s time for us to honour a Team Member whose actions and efforts have impressed and inspired us.  There was no hesitation or debate within the team that the very special and deserving person to take the title Team Member of the Month for August was the lovely Tanisha Williams – Conference & Banqueting Supervisor.  Tanisha has been the recipient of this award on a number of occasions now which goes to show how valued she is.

Tanisha has been with us at the Dragon Hotel for 8 years and has worked her way up through the ranks to her most recent promotion to full time Conference & Banqueting Supervisor.  Her dedication to the role and to providing first class customer service is inspirational.

Tanisha is also the Queen of Christmas tree decorating which was beautifully demonstrated at our recent ‘Christmas in September’ event.

The Dragon Hotel , Swansea entertained guests to an early Christmas last night when we hosted our Christmas in September party.

Guests were invited to celebrate the festive season early where they were greeted by Santa in the lovely hot sunshine! A mulled wine drinks reception was hosted in the lounge followed by Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings and our resident DJ with his tunes. Santa gave out festive gifts early where everyone received a gift voucher to spend in the hotel.

The Christmas Quiz got everybody in the festive swing with 3 tables calling it a draw!

We were very proud to be the hospitality partner for the ‘Welsh Menu Live Food Festival’ that took place over the Bank Holiday weekend.

On Friday night we hosted the ‘Festival Launch Dinner’, which was a sumptuous 8 course tasting menu featuring some of the finest local produce that Swansea could offer.

Hosted by Jamie Owen, he spoke about the different courses and the suppliers that helped us to produce the fantastic dishes. Some of the generous supplies included: Gower Salt Marsh Lamb, Swansea Fish, Abrahams, Goodies & The Choice is Yours from Swansea Market, as well as support from Sainsbury’s.

From Saturday through to the Bank Holiday Monday, we hosted ‘The Welsh Menu Live – Food Theatre’ in association with Swansea Market.

Throughout the weekend, Welsh chefs, food and drink connoisseurs demonstrated their skills to the  willing audience. Some of the experts included: Sophie Grigson, Fiona Faulkner, Anthony Evans, Jo Wheatley, Luke Thomas, Bryn Williams, Susy Atkins & Gareth Johns.

For those of you who were lucky enough to soak up the ‘foodie’ atmosphere over that weekend, we hope you enjoyed the experience!

The Dragon Health Club staff have been busy bouncing around the place and we’ve managed to get them still just long enough to tell you what they’ve been up to. Tara has most recently been spotted running around the place with love hearts coming out of her eyes as she’s recently bought a brand new pair of uber bright pink, blue and orange. She even took a photo of her feet after a brutal run up constitution hill.

Rob is still in the thick of his iron man training. It’s been an emotional week for Rob as he most recently got kicked in the face and elbowed in the head by two ladies in the swim leg of a triathlon. However, he survived to tell the tale, and still hasn’t lost his good looks.

Andrew has taken on the challenge of jumping off his bike and has entered the Cardiff Half Marathon. Although he is super fit on the bike, after his first run he has been suffering with achy muscles but is ready to take on the mission in hand but aiming to beat Rob!

James is getting ready to get his head back in the books and will be doing his First Aid course, so we’ll all be in safe hands once he’s passed the course. Sandra has come back to work fully relaxed and refreshed from a 10 day break, however we wonder how long she will feel stress free as Bryony has now gone on holidays and Sandra is running a one woman show in beauty! Nothing like being thrown in the deep end after holidays!!
