Standing at 6,700 yards, Fairwood Park is both the longest and the flattest golf course on the beautiful Gower Peninsula. The bewildering array of trees lining each fairway makes Fairwood the first class parkland course that it is and it’s these very trees that lie in wait, ready to punish the wayward tee shot. Add into the equation several lakes as well as an intense programme of aeration and redevelopment on the greens and you start to see why so many visitors keep coming back to Fairwood Park.
The Welsh PGA was one group that decided to return, as Fairwood Park was twice chosen to host the Welsh Professional Golf Championships during the 1990s, and today the golf course remains the only one in the Swansea area to have ever hosted a PGA event.
Such an accolade is little more than the club deserves given the remarkable amount of investment that has taken place on the course since 1985, including the planting of 12,000 new trees, the creation of 6 man-made lakes, and the total redesign of 6 greens. All of which makes Fairwood Park an essential destination for the modern-day golfer.
